Typically a customer only needs one subscription, and then add licenses to it or remove licenses from it as needed. However, it can happen you have purchased multiple subscriptions at different times in a year, and now want to consolidate them to avoid getting multiple invoices every year.
There is no way to instantly consolidate subscriptions; rather, each consolidation of two subscriptions, one "first to renew" that renews first and one "second to renew" that renews second, requires two steps:
- Making the "first to renew" subscription non-renewable, and
- When the "first to renew" subscription terminates, adding the terminated licenses to the "second to renew" subscription at a pro-rated price.
For instance, suppose you have three subscriptions that you want to consolidate:
- a 5-license subscription "A", renewing on March 7,
- a 7-license subscription "B", renewing on July 18, and
- a 22-license subscription "C", renewing on November 2.
You perform the following steps:
- Set subscriptions "A" and "B" to non-renewing.
- On March 7, when subscription "A" expires, add its 5 licenses to subscription "C" at a pro-rated price.
- On July 18, when subscription "B" expires, add its 7 licenses to subscription "C" at a pro-rated price.
In the end, you will only have one subscription with 34 licenses, renewing on November 2.
